We just doubled the print speed of our Mark Two and Onyx Pro Gen 2 printers
Mark Two and Onyx Pro Turbo Print is an innovative 250 µm layer height print mode designed for Gen 2 Mark Two and Onyx Pro printers. This new print mode significantly enhances print speed, achieving up to twice the speed of the 200 µm print settings. The increased print speeds enable faster delivery of parts, improved printer throughput, and expedited design iterations. Consequently, this results in greater value and an increased return on investment.
Turbo Print is particularly advantageous for those with high printer utilization, those operating print farms, those requiring the production of MRO parts, and those needing to respond promptly to line changeovers on the factory floor, as well as for printing design iterations.
Moreover, parts printed at a 250 µm layer height retain the same surface finish quality as those printed at 200 µm.
- Parts are made quickly when you need them.
- Product development happens faster, reducing overall timelines.
- Factory floors can get MRO and line changeover parts quickly when needed.
- Job shops become more productive and can take on more jobs.
How to Get Turbo Print
Mark Two and Onyx Pro Turbo Print is compatible with Gen 2 devices and supports our Onyx filament without necessitating any hardware modifications. Compatible Mark Two and Onyx Pro online printers will require a firmware update. Offline Eiger users with active licenses will receive this feature in an upcoming quarterly software update.
Due to hardware limitations, Turbo Print is not compatible with Gen 1 desktops or Gen 2 Onyx Ones:
Gen 1 Onyx One, Gen 1 Onyx Pro, and Gen 1 Mark Two printers are not compatible because their extruders lack the necessary filament push-force, and their wiring does not support the Gen 2 extruder, so an extruder swap isn't possible.
Gen 2 Onyx One printers can't use Turbo Print because they don't have a fiber heater, which is needed to melt the plastic quickly enough for 250 µm printing.
To check if your printer is Gen 1 or Gen 2, look at the product label on the back of the device.
Although we stopped selling Gen 1 desktop printers in 2019, they will continue to receive support through December 31, 2026, if they are covered by an active support plan or warranty. For more details, please read this bulletin.
Like our other printers, the Mark Two and Onyx One create strong, functional parts, are operated by secure and easy-to-use software, are proven to be reliable, and are user-friendly. And now, they are twice as fast.
